U-Care researcher, Syam Mohan P.C. Mohanan, has been out to a local primary school to inspire and engage children in STEM. Here is what he had to say about his experience:

“I visited Prestonfield primary school in Edinburgh for a science outreach activity. Our team interacted with children in a P6 class (11-12 years old). This is an excellent way to engage young children in science and spark their curiosity about the world around them. Our initial focus was on creating entertaining crafts using paper. However, we have now shifted our focus towards delivering interactive lessons on the biological systems within the human body. Our aim is to educate and engage students in a fun and interactive way, while also promoting a greater understanding of the workings of the human body. Through our teaching, we hope to inspire a love for science and encourage students to explore the fascinating world of biology. I have devised a plan to incorporate optical systems into the outreach activity. By introducing this technology, we aim to enhance the learning experience for primary school students and promote a deeper understanding of optics and its applications.”
